This apparently rather charming film, starring Morgan Freeman, is on general release in the UK this month. If you stay for the end credits you'll hear our track 'Your Love is Mine' featuring the vocal delights of Corinne Bailey Rae. The song was originally released on our 2003 album 'Be Yourself' and then again as a single in 2006.
Simon played drums for Corinne Bailey Rae on a recording session for BBC Radio One's 'Established 1967' album. High profile artists were approached and asked to pick a tune from a particular year to cover. Corinne had chosen the 2006 Raconteurs track 'Steady as She Goes'. Also on the recording were ex-NMS organist Bob Birch, Roughneck bassist Neil Innes, and Ben Barker - from the Haggis Horns - on guitar. The session was recorded at Hall Place Studios in Leeds by NMS regular engineer Richard Formby.

Pete meets New Orleans funk legend Eddie Bo backstage at the Marseille gig, October 20th
Bassist Pete Shand came very close to purchasing a second hand Jimmy Smith record at a French market stall earlier this week, sources close to the band reveal. In the end, after considerable deliberation, the 6'3" tall musician and part-time disc jockey rejected the disc in favour of a "Best of the Meters" compilation. "Despite the title, there were several tracks on there that I"d never even heard of, and I only had 10 Euros on me," said Peter, 46. " I had to borrow the shortfall from Simon." Drummer Simon Allen had purchased an album moments earlier by Clarence Wheeler & The Enforcers, even though he was only familiar with one track.
