Next month's MOJO magazine comes with a free CD - "The New Dictionary of Blues and Soul," a 'hand-picked collection of modern day grit 'n' grooves' featuring tracks by The Sugarman Three, Sharon Jones, James Hunter, Eli Reed, Watermelon Slim, and... The New Mastersounds. Here's what Mojo's editor has to say about how he made the selection: "While every artist represented here is unique, all of them share a love of roots music that reverberates through their own performances." Precisely!
Interesting feature on the excellent All Music blog. Now that elements of the classic funk/soul sound are showing up again on mainstream records, journalists are starting to connect the dots. We invited vocalist Dionne Charles up to Leeds at the end of January to write and record tunes for the new album. Eddie starts mixing next week. The release should be early May - check the site regularly for updates and exclusive audio previews.

Eddie on stage at the Independent, San Francisco on Friday 11th Jan. The gig was sold out before doors opened at 7.30pm. To celebrate our achievement we made a bit of an effort with the outfits. You can buy the 2-disc live-CD here.
